Captain’s Corner – Roxy McGee

It’s always a proud day to pull on the two tone blues and step on to the field to represent New South Wales. Words can’t describe the pride and the buzz that exists amongst this team of Blues girls. After months of preparation and hard work on the field and behind the scenes, the NSW Blues have showcased their performance at the 2011 National AFL championships in style. At times we have shocked the onlookers and even ourselves with our ability to come together as one and dazzle the stands with our skills.

After defeating the ACT and TAS, we know our focus must not wain as we work our way towards the Grand Final. There’s a great team spirit in the air and like Babe Ruth said “The way a team plays as a whole determines it’s success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” Let’s go Blues!

My First Blog….

Holy Crap!

I am blogging….it kind of feels like a colonic only a little less water involved.

Anyhow, about the game.

I don’t know about the rest of you out there but we were on fire. Crawling out of the sack, brekkie with the lassies in 219, the extended bus ride and then at the ground…did anyone else get goosebumps when Trace started talking about today’s game being like a grand final…that THIS IS IT!!!

I don’t know how many nervous poos came out after that, but now we are getting back to colonic talk, not good.

I was so focused before the game and in the warm up largely due to the team around me. It was fantastic to be patting one another on the back during the short kick warm ups and looking at the people around me thinking “there is no way that we will be beaten”….Tom Harley, thankyou.

PS Its Steph not Keats, tempted to leave this as Keats, but no one would have believed me unless I wrote twenty pages.

Bye

Captain’s Corner – Marie Keating

So, after months of trials, trainings and talking the journey to Adelaide finally began as a swarm of light blue somehow passed security at Sydney airport. The journey to the plane was eventful enough with football kicking, planking and loads of interviews being conducted (ahem, with each other, not the invisible throngs of press journalists seeing us off…). But at least they gave us the opportunity to learn some interesting information about our teammates, like the fact that an unusual proportion of the team like lamb as their favourite food and Rez’s most treasured possession is a signed photo of Luke Perry. Okaaay, lets move on…

Anyway as the plane took off myself and Chompy were glued to the window taking photos of the sunset over Botany Bay. Another unusual fact is that so many of us really like flying! Hopefully a good omen of what’s to come in the speccy department maybe?!

A slight delay in flight times didn’t deter us from hitting the pool for a recovery before dinner, which we were to discover is jutting out 6 stories up and has a glass floor. Skinny-dipping not recommended!

Well the evening ended with a team meeting followed by dinner where I got to know my roomies a little better. And let me just say I’m not at all worried about the fact that Courtney is from Adelaide (the city of serial killers), I’m from Limerick (the city of stabbings) and we all spent the walk to dinner talking about what we could use a bat for! But thats another story! Perhaps more worrying was my other roomie, who shall remain anonymous, telling me ,while bouncing around the bed, that she wasn’t built for sleeping!! It’s gonna be a fun week, I can tell!

Go Blues!
